Steve Aoki Hiroyuki begint in 1996 zijn eigen platenlabel wat zich van hardcore punk ontwikkelt tot een maatschappij voor dance en electro. De dj en producer werkt samen met acts als LMFAO, Kid Cudi, Will.I Am en Linkin’ Park. Aoki heeft nog een opvallende eigenschap; tijdens zijn optredens wil hij zijn fans wel eens trakteren op taarten die hij het publiek in gooit.

Samen met Afrojack en Miss Palmer staat hij eind 2011 in de Top 40 met No Beef. In 2013 scoort hij met Chris Lake en Tujamo een clubhit met Boneless. Die track wordt in 2014 Dance Smash. Eind 2016 verrast hij met Just Hold On, een samenwerking met One Direction-zanger Louis Tomlinson, die daarmee zijn eerste solo-nummer uitbrengt.

Tegelijk met zijn optreden op Tomorrowland komt in juli van 2018 een nieuwe single uit van Aoki, Lie To Me. Later in 2018 weet hij BTS te strikken voor een samenwerking op Waste It On Me.
