Pain Is So Close To Pleasure was de laatste singlerelease van het album A Kind Of Magic. De single werd niet in alle landen uitgebracht. Engeland was daar eentje van. In ons land werd de single werd uitgebracht en zo kwam het in de Top 40 terecht in 1987. Een 26ste plaats was de hoogste positie in de lijst der lijsten.

Wist je dat? Pain Is So Close To Pleasure was de 5de single release van het album A Kind Of Magic. Voor Mercury is het nummer autobiografisch aangezien hij op zoek was naar een vaste partner en de eenzaamheid hem dan ook zwaar viel. Vreemdgenoeg werd de single niet in Engeland uitgebracht maar wel in Canada, Duitsland, de Verenigde Staten en Nederland. De single versie was een remix en klonk heel anders dan de album versie. In het voorjaar van 1987 wist de single de Top 40 te bereiken en kwam tot nummer 26. Een videoclip voor "Pain" is nooit gemaakt. In een ander liedje van het album "One Year Of Love" refereert Mercury aan de titel "Pain".
