Innuendo knalde in 1991 vanuit het niets op nummer 1 binnen in de Engelse hitparade waar het 1 week bleef staan. In Nederland deed de single het ook niet slecht met een nummer 4 notering in de Top 40. Ook het album Innuendo bereikte de eerste plaats in beide landen. In de Verenigde Staten werd ook dit keer de hot 100 niet gehaald.

Wist je dat? Lang hoefde de fans niet te wachten op nieuw materiaal van de band. In januari 1990 stond de single The Miracle nog in de Top 40 en exact een jaar later was er dan deze bijzondere single Innuendo. Voor vele fans doet de single denken aan hun grootste hit Bohemian Rhapsody uit 1975. Het is ook één van Queen's langste singles. Hij duurt zo'n 6:30. De bijbehorende videoclip was een pareltje en daarin waren onder andere kleipoppetjes te zien, de bandleden als animatie figuren en veel van de artwork van het album was als animatie te zien.
