Friends Will Be Friends was de 3de singlerelease van het album A Kind Of Magic. In Engeland was de het 30ste single van de band. In ons land werd de 17de plaats gehaald in de Top 40 en in Engeland kwam de single 3 plaatsen hoger. In de Verenigde Staten werd de hitparade niet gehaald.

Wist je dat? In 1986 was Queen druk met net als in 1980 2 albumprojecten. Namelijk een live album en een nieuw studioalbum wat ook tevens een soort van soundtrack voor de film Highlander bleek te zijn. Ook toerde de band in de zomer van 1986 onder de naam The Magic Tour. Het zou hun laatste zijn. In 1986 was de band veel van hun fanbase in de Verenigde Staten verloren. Dit na de videoclip I Want To Break Free. Als gevolg hiervan scoorden alle singles hierna slecht en met Friends Will Be Friends werd de hot 100 niet eens gehaald. Voor de videoclip mochten er Queen fans bij de opname zijn terwijl Mercury hen allen dirigeerde. Er werd luidkeels meegezongen tot veel vreugde van de bandleden.
