Deze alternatieve rockband is afkomstig uit de Verenigde Staten en werd in 1986 opgericht door John Spence. Toen hij in 1987 zelfmoord pleegde werd Gwen Stefani de zangeres van de band. Na een aantal wijzigingen werd uiteindelijk de band verder gevormd door Tony Kanal (basgitaar en keyboard), Tom Dumont (gitaar en keyboard) en Adrian Young (drummer). Tijdens het toeren en in de studio krijgt de band hulp van Gabrial McNair (trombone en keyboard) en Stephen Bradley (trompet en keyboard).

Trapped In A Box uit 1992 is hun eerste single van het debuutalbum No Doubt.

Het jaar daarop volgt het tweede album The Beacon Street Collection dat een stuk beter verkoopt dan het eerste album.

In 1995 kwam het album Tragic Kingdom waarmee ze internationaal bekendheid kregen. Singles als Just A Girl en Don’t Speak zijn afkomstig van dit album. Het album is meer dan 16 miljoen keer over de toonbank gegaan.

Rock Steady is het album uit 2001 met daarop hits als Hey Baby en Underneath It All.

Na een aantal solo projecten tussendoor gedaan te hebben besluit zangeres Gwen Stefani in 2004 een solotournee te gaan doen met een daarbij behorend album , maar ze geeft aan dat No Doubt niet uit elkaar zal gaan.

In 2008 komt de band weer samen om nieuwe nummers te schrijven voor een nieuw album. Tussendoor doen ze in 2009 nog een tournee door Noord-Amerika.

Het album Push and Shove verscheen in 2012.
