"Get it" was niet de 1emuzikale samenwerking tussen Stevie en Michael. Michael werkte met Stevie enkele jaren eerder voor het lied "I can't help it" voor het album "Bad". Stevie schreef dat nummer samen met voormalig Supremes lid Susaye Greene. Voorafgaand aan "Get It" was Michael als achtergrondzanger, samen met zijn broers, te horen op op Stevie's 1974 hit "You Haven't Done Nothin' " van het album "Fulfillingness First Finale" en deden zij ook de achtergrond vocalen op "All I Do" van het album "Hotter Than Juli "uit 1980.
