Beyoncé maakt deel uit van de groep Destiny’s Child, waarmee ze samen met Michelle Williams en Kelly Rowland in de periode tussen 1997 en 2005 vijftien hits scoorde in de Top 40.
In 2002 scoort ze haar eerste solo-hit met Work It Out. Een goed half jaar later, als ook haar debuutalbum Dangerously In Love verschijnt, scoort ze samen met Jay-Z een top 10-hit met ’03 Bonnie & Clyde. In 2008 zou ze met Jay-Z in het huwelijksbootje stappen.
In 2007 scoort ze, samen met Shakira, haar eerste nummer 1-hit in ons land als Beautiful Liar drie weken bovenaan staat. If I Were A Boy staat een jaar later ook vier weken op de hoogste positie van de Top 40.
In december van 2013 verschijnt haar vijfde solo-album, Beyoncé. Het album verschijnt onverwachts op iTunes en is in de eerste week alleen digitaal verkrijgbaar. In drie dagen tijd wordt het album ruim 825.000 keer verkocht, wat op dat moment een record is. De singles van dat album volgen elkaar in rap tempo op. Achtereenvolgens zien we in ons land Blow, XO en Drunk In Love (met Jay-Z) verschijnen.
Met de single XO scoort ze voor de 13e keer de alarmschijf en haar 21e hit (los van Destiny's Child) in de Top 40.
Een jaar na het verschijnen van het album Beyoncé verschijnt de Platinum Edition met een extra cd waarop speciale versies staan Ook zijn 7/11 en Ring Off twee volledig nieuwe nummers.
In 2015 verrast ze door mee te werken aan Runnin' (Lose It All) van de Britse producer Naughty Boy. Vlak voordat ze met Coldplay en Bruno Mars opnieuw een show geeft tijdens de SuperBowl brengt ze in februari 2016 de track Formation uit.
Als ze in 2017 wordt gevraagd mee te werken aan een remix van Mi Gente, de hit van J. Balvin en Willy William, besluit ze haar stem te laten toevoegen. Ze wil er echter niets aan verdienen en doneert haar vergoedingen aan slachtoffers van recente orkanen en de aardbeving in Mexico. In november is ze te horen op Walk On Water, de nieuwe single van Eminem. In 2019 is de stem van Beyoncé te horen in de verfilming van The Lion King waarin ze de rol van Nala voor haar rekening neemt. Ook produceert ze de soundtrack bij de film. Spirit is de eerste track uit de film die op 10 juli verschijnt.
In 2020 verrast Beyoncé met een vocale bijdrage op Savage, de track van Megan Thee Stallion. Halverwege 2022 brengt ze het album Renaissance uit. Break My Soul is de eerste single afkomstig van het album. Met het nummer Cuff It scoort ze een hit in de herfst van 2022.
