Dit nummer is afkomstig van hun album Everything en geschreven door Billy Steinberg, Tom Kelly en, van The Bangles zelf, Susanna Hoffs. Inspiratie werd gehaald uit twee eeuwige vlammen. Een van de vlammen is te zien bij het graf van Elvis, waar de band een bezoek bracht aan Graceland. De tweede vlam bij een lokale synagoge in Palm Springs, waar Steinberg als kind woonde. Toen Susanna de trip van The Bangles aan Graceland besprak met Steinberg en het had over een Eternal Flame, moest hij direct denken aan die synagoge.
Hoffs heeft het nummer naakt in de studio opgenomen. De producer Davitt Sigerson vertelde haar dat Olivia Newton John dat ook had gedaan. Later gaf hij aan Hoffs toe dat dit een leugen was.
