De Zangeres Zonder Naam kreeg in 1955 haar eerste platencontract, nadat ze jarenlang in cafés had opgetreden. Haar echte doorbraak kwam in 1973. Bekende successen waren "Ach vaderlief", "Mexico", "Mandolinen in Nicosia" en "Keetje Tippel".
Mary Servaes gold als de koningin van het levenslied. Sinds haar afscheid in 1987 leidde zij een teruggetrokken leven.
