De song is vele malen gecoverd. De bekendste en meest succesvolle cover was van Gloria Estefan & The Miami Sound Machine. Deze uitvoering stond 4 weken in de Top 40 met een 33e plaats als hoogste notering. Andere covers zijn o.a. van: Laura Branigan (1990) en rapster Lil Suzy (1994). DJ Jeroen van Inkel gebruikte eind jaren 80 de melodie als jingle voor zijn vrijdagochtendprogramma bij Radio Veronica ter onderbreking van reclame en journaal. "We gaan er even uit maar zijn straks weer terug".

Wist je dat? Vicki Sue Robinson (Harlem, 1954 - Wilton, Connecticut, 2000) was een Amerikaanse theater- en filmactrice en zangeres, zeer nauw geassocieerd met het discotijdperk eind jaren '70. Vicki Sue is het meest bekend van haar grote discohit uit 1976 "Turn the Beat Around". Ze overleed in april 2000, elf dagen na de release van haar laatste film "Red Lipstick" aan de gevolgen van kanker. Vicky heeft ook o.a. gespeel in de musicals "Hair" en Jesus Christ Superstar".
