Cornelia Jacoba (Connie) Breukhoven-Witteman wordt bekend als zangeres en actrice onder de naam Vanessa. Op haar achttiende trouwt ze en verhuist ze met haar man naar de Verenigde Staten. Daar wordt ze model onder de naam Coco. Uiteindelijk scheidt ze en omdat haar zus Lidia ernstig ziek is, keert ze terug naar Nederland. Ze neemt haar zus in huis en verzorgt haar tot haar overlijden. Vervolgens trouwt ze met Peter Zulver en ze adopteren een Colombiaans meisje, Constanza. Ook woont de dochter van haar overleden zus bij haar. Ook dit huwelijk strandt en uiteindelijk trouwt ze op 20 november 1987 met Free Record Shop-baas Hans Breukhoven. Samen adopteren ze drie kinderen.

In Nederland brengt Connie onder de naam Vanessa het nummer ‘In The Heat Of The Night’ uit. Het wordt een kleine Top 40-hit. In 1982 scoort ze een nummer 2-hit met ‘Upside Down’. Hetzelfde jaar scoort ze een tweede top 10-hit met ‘Dynamite’ en wordt ook het nummer ‘Cheerio’ een hit. Als actrice is Vanessa in 1982 ook te zien naast André van Duin in de film ‘De Boezemvriend’. Ze staat in die tijd bekend om haar enorme boezem. In 1983 wordt ze benaderd door Playboy en Penthouse voor een fotosessie. In 1984 poseert ze uiteindelijk in Penthouse en een aantal jaren later in Playboy. Na bijna tien jaar uptempo disconummers te hebben uitgebracht, richt Connie zich meer op ballades. Naast duetten met onder andere David McWilliams en Michael Robinson neemt ze enkele persoonlijke nummers op, waaronder ‘Lidia’, voor haar overleden zus, en ‘I’m Here For You’, voor haar vijf geadopteerde kinderen.
