U96 is een Duits danceproject, mede opgezet door de Duitse dj/producer Alex Christensen. De naam komt uit de film Das Boot uit 1981 en verwijst naar een Duitse onderzeeër uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog: de U-96.
Das Boot is ook de naam van de eerste hit van het gelijknamige album uit 1991, en bevat de melodie uit de film, maar dan in techno-house-vorm. In Nederland haalt het nummer in het voorjaar van 1992 de vierde plaats.
U96 heeft in Nederland in totaal zeven hits. Heaven uit 1996 (#15) is de laatste. In de jaren die volgen verschijnen nog wel remixes en ook nieuwe muziek.
