Deze uit de Verenigde Staten afkomstige R&B, soul- en hiphopgroep werd opgericht in 1991.

De afkorting TLC staat voor de afkorting voor de beginletters van Tionne, Lisa en Crystal, de voornamen van de originele bezetting. De samenwerking met Crystal verliep echter helaas niet zo goed en Rozonda Thomas werd de vervangster van Crystal. Haar naam moest alleen nog wel met een C beginnen en er werd gekozen voor de bijnaam Chilli. De andere twee dames kregen de bijnamen T-Boz en Left Eye.

Met de single Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg zetten de dames zich op de kaart. Het grote succes kwam met de albums CrazySexyCool en Fan Mail. Hits als Waterfalls en Unpretty zijn afkomstig van deze albums.

Tijdens de opnames van hun derde album verongelukte de 30-jarige Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in een auto- ongeluk in Honduras. De overgebleven leden besloten om het derde album af te maken. De nummers die ze samen met Lisa hadden ingezongen bleven ongewijzigd en de rest werd ingezongen door Tionne en Rozonda. Het laatste gedeelte van Lisa’s rap op Waterfalls staat gegraveerd in haar grafsteen.

In de zomer van 2017 wordt hun vijfde en laatste album verwacht.
