De Chainsmokers zijn de Amerikaanse dj's en producers Andrew Taggart en Alex Pall die sinds 2012 samenwerken. Erase (dat ze samen maken met Priyanka Chopra) wordt hun eerste clubhit eind 2012.

In het voorjaar van 2014 weet #Selfie de 9e plaats in de Top 40 te bereiken. Ruim een jaar later maken ze, samen met de Amerikaanse Rozes, de track Roses, dat in februari van 2016 in de Top 40 terecht komt. De opvolger, Don't Let Me Down (met Daya), bereikt de zevende plaats en groeit uit tot hun grootste succes in ons land. De opvolger, Closer (met Halsey) wordt hun eerste nummer 1-hit in ons land.

Eind september wordt All We Know, hun samenwerking met Phoebe Ryan, hun volgende single. Die track, maar ook Paris dat in januari van 2017 verschijnt, worden door Radio 538 uitgeroepen tot Alarmschijf. Dat gebeurt zes weken later ook met Something Just Like This, dat ze samen met Coldplay maakten.

Op 7 april verschijnt het debuutalbum van The Chainsmokers, Memories: Do Not Open, waarvan kort voor de release The One wordt uitgebracht als derde single van het album.
