De bandnaam van Sue The Night bedacht de Haarlemse zangeres Suus de Groot tijdens de momenten die haar inspiratie geven bij het schrijven van nummers: de nacht.
In 2011 staat de groep in een kleine samenstelling in de finale van de Popprijs van Nederland in de categorie singer-songwriter, die uiteindelijk wordt gewonnen door Yori Swart. Naast Suus zijn Linda van Leeuwen, Simone van Vugt, Matthijs Barnhoorn, Tobias Ponsioen, Nana Effah-Bekoe, Jasja Offermans en Thijs van der Klugt in afwisselende samenstelling op het podium te zien. In 2014 verschijnt de single Top Of Mind, waarmee Sue The Night al veel aandacht krijgt.
Begin 2015 verschijnt het debuutalbum Mosaic, waarvan ook The Whale als single verschijnt.
