Sting (echte naam Gordon Summer) begint zijn zangcarrière in de band The Police, die tussen 1978 en 1986 enorm populair is. In '85 begint hij een solocarrière en dat pakt goed uit, want hij scoort enorme hits als Russians, Love Is The Seventh Wave, Englishman In New York, Fragile en All This Time. Ook in de jaren daarna scoort hij hits, maar minder succesvol. Wel scoort hij samen met Bryan Adams en Rod Stewart een top 3-hit met All For Love. In 2003 heeft hij samen met Craig David een enorme hit met de single Rise And Fall. Hierna scoort Sting geen hits meer, maar blijft wel albums maken.

Zijn laatste album 57th And 9th verscheen in 2016.
