Het nummer bevat o.a. een sample van Jocelyn Browns "Love's Gonna Get You" uit 1985: "I've got the power / to chase you by the hour / so I'm taking your heart under arrest".

Wist je dat? Het nummer begint met een Russische sample. De tekst luidt: "Amerikanskaja firma Tranceptor Technology pristoepila k proizvodstvoe kompjoeterov 'Personalny Spoetnik'. ("De Amerikaanse firma Tranceptor Technology is begonnen met de productie van de 'Personal Companion'-computer.") De Personal Companion was een draagbare computer voor mensen met een visuele beperking en werd in 1989 op de markt gebracht door Tranceptor Technologies Incorporated. De computer werkte op spraakherkenning en had naast een klok, rekenmachine, agenda, radio en telefoon onder andere een ingebouwde modem waarmee de gebruiker nieuws kon downloaden. Het apparaat was niet lang op de markt en kostte naargelang het model tussen de $5.850 en $11.190.

In de videoclip is het nichtje van rapper MC Turbo B te zien: Jackie Harris, de echte zangeres, Penny Ford, wilde niets met The Power te maken hebben, ze vond het herrie.
