Deze single was de opvolger van Thanks For The Memory en strandde in de Tipparade. De opvolger van In For A Penny was Let's Call It Quits en haalde zelfs de Tipparade niet, waarna in Nederland voor Slade een stilte van vijf jaren volgde, voordat er weer successen werden behaald.
De titel In For A Penny wijst naar het Engelse spreekwoord "In for a penny, in for a pound", ofwel "wie a zegt, moet ook b zeggen". Hiermee wil men zeggen dat je, als je eenmaal iets bent begonnen, je tot het eind moet volhouden en niet voortijdig dient te stoppen.
Het opmerkelijke aan In For A Penny is dat het de enige track in de carrière van Slade is waarin een accordeon wordt bespeeld.
