Sigma zijn Cameron Edwards en Joe Lenzie die elkaar leerden kennen op de universiteit van Leeds. Sinds 2006 werkt het duo samen en binnen twee jaar beginnen ze hun eigen platenlabel, Life Recordings.

Voor DJ Fresh maken ze, ook samen met Koko, de single Lassitude, waarmee ze een bescheiden notering in de Britse hitlijst weten te scoren. Eind 2013 verschijnt hun eerste eigen single, Rudeboy, die daar de 56e plaats bereikt. De opvolger, Nobody To Love, komt op 19 april 2014 van niets op 1 binnen in de Britse hitlijst. In de Top 40 komt het nummer tot de zevende plaats.

In december 2015 verschijnt hun debuutalbum, Life met daarop samenwerkingen met Ella Henderson, Glitterball en Rita Ora, Coming Home. In 2016 maken ze met Birdy de track Find Me.

Na bijna drie jaar afwezigheid duikt het duo begin 2020 weer op in de Tipparade via 2 Hearts, een samenwerking met Sam Feldt.
