Sandra van Nieuwland is geboren in Delft, studeerde muziekwetenschap en was te horen in verschillende bands. In 2011 staat ze in de kwartfinale van de Grote Prijs van Nederland en brengt ze als Sandra Newland haar eerste single uit.
Nederland leert Van Nieuwland kennen door haar deelname aan het derde seizoen van het tv-programma The Voice Of Holland. Ze haalt de finale niet maar is wel de meest succesvolle deelnemer van het programma.
More is de eerste single die in september van 2012 de Top 40 weet te bereiken. De single is nog steeds haar grootste succes in ons land.
Eind 2012 is ze de eerste Nederlandse artiest die met drie singles tegelijk in de Top 10 staat. Alleen The Beatles en Bruce Springsteen hebben een dergelijke prestatie neer weten te zetten. Vrij snel daarna verschijnt het debuutalbum And More. Vijf singles van het album stonden tegelijkertijd in de Top 40.
In november van 2013 verschijnt haar tweede album, Banging On The Doors Of Love. Daarvan zijn Hunter, Always Alone en het titelnummer de eerste singles.
In oktober 2015 is Sandra van Nieuwland terug met een nieuwe single, Truth.
