Robert Miles (echte naam: Robert Concina) wordt op 3 november 1969 geboren in het Zwitserse Fleurier, als zoon van Italiaanse immigranten. Sinds de jaren '80 is hij actief in de muziek.
Halverwege de jaren '90 breekt hij door met dromerige dance, die al snel 'dreamhouse' wordt genoemd. In 1996 scoort hij drie hits in de Top 40, waarvan de eerste de grootste is: Children komt in de top 3 terecht. In veel andere landen komt het nummer op 1.
In mei 2017 komt het bericht dat Miles aan kanker is overleden is op Ibiza, waar de dj/producer woonde.
