Rigby is actief sinds 2008 en ontleent zijn naam aan de single van de Beatles, Eleanor Rigby uit 1966.

In 2009 scoort de groep van Christon Kloosterboer, Bart Meeldijk, Lars van Starrenburg en Merijn Eugelink met Parade hun eerste hit in de Top 40. Een jaar later bereikt ook One Song de lijst.

In 2013 staat Earth Meets Water twee keer in de Top 40; één keer in een remix van Wildstylez. In november verscheen het vierde studioalbum van de groep, Island To Mainland, opgenomen op Texel. De groep adopteerde in juli van dat jaar een zeehondje in Ecomare, dat sindsdien de naam Rigby draagt.
