R. City zijn de broers Timothy (A.I.) en Theron (Uptown AP) Thomas. In 2006 weten ze hun eigen nummer te verkopen aan Akon en sindsdien zijn ze niet meer te stoppen. Als producers en songwriters bouwen ze door de jaren heen een aardige staat van dienst op door te werken met Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Beyoncé en Chris Brown. In 2008 besluiten ze als Rock City ook eigen tracks uit te brengen.

In 2015 maken ze, samen met Adam Levine, de track Locked Away dat door Radio 538 wordt uitgeroepen tot Alarmschijf.

Een jaar later werken de broers mee aan Don't You Need Somebody van RedOne.
