Armando Christian Perez blijft relatief lang een onbekende buiten de Verenigde Staten. Na het album Miami, dat in 2004 uitkomt, volgen nog een aantal albums. Pas in 2009 raakt ‘Mr Worldwide’ ook in ons land bekend met het album Rebelution. Van dat album wordt I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho) zijn grote doorbraak. De single, gebaseerd op Street Player van Chicago, staat vijf weken op de eerste plaats van de Top 40.

Nadat Hotel Room Service later in 2009 opnieuw een solo-hit voor Pitbull wordt, volgt er een reeks samenwerkingen met Alexandra Burke, Enrique Iglesias, Usher en Jennifer Lopez. In 2011 brengt de samenwerking met Ne-Yo, Nayer en Afrojack op Give Me Everything hem opnieuw op nummer 1.

Zijn 16e notering in de Top 40 is Timber, een samenwerking met Ke$ha. Het nummer, met het herkenbare loopje uit San Francisco Bay van Lee Oskar (uit 1979), is begin 2014 zijn derde nummer 1-hit.

In 2014 werkt Pitbull opnieuw samen met Jennifer Lopez op het nummer We Are One (Ole Ola), dat wordt gebruikt bij de wereldkampioenschappen voetbal in Brazilië. Fireball wordt Alarmschijf en staat in september vier weken op nummer 1. In november passeert de Amerikaan zijn landgenoot Eminem en mag hij zich de meest succesvolle rapper in de geschiedenis van de Top 40 noemen.

Times Of Our Lives, dat hij samen met Ne-Yo maakte, komt in februari 2015 in de Top 40. In juni scoort hij met Fun, de samenwerking met Chris Brown, zijn zesde Alarmschijf. Het is de vierde single die terug te vinden op zijn achtste album Globalization.

In 2016 werkt 'Mr. 305' voor de vierde keer samen met Enrique Iglesias op Messin' Around.
