Als winnaar van een popkwis krijgt Paolo Nutini in 2003 de kans wat nummers te spelen op een podium. Als 17-jarige vertrekt hij uit Schotland naar Londen om daar verschillende optredens e verzorgen. Al vrij snel kwam hij in de voorprogramma’s van Amy Winehouse en KT Tunstall en in 2006 zelfs de Rolling Stones. Dat jaar verschijnt ook zijn debuutalbum, These Streets, waarmee Nutini in de top 3 van de albumlijst komt. Van het album komt de single Last Request op de vijfde plaats van de Britse singlelijst.
Het tweede album, Sunny Side Up in 2009, komt van niets op nummer 1 in de albumlijst van het Verenigd Koninkrijk terecht. Daarvan is Pencil Full Of Lead de meest succesvolle single. Nutini werkte vijf jaar aan zijn derde studioalbum,
Caustic Love, dat in april van 2014 verscheen, werd opnieuw een nummer 1-hit in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Met Iron Sky debuteert Nutini eind januari 2015 in de Media Markt Top 40.
