Deze uit Amsterdam afkomstige band werd in 1960 opgericht door Wally Tax. De band heeft verschillende leden gehad te weten Leendert Groenhoff, Piet Sanstra, Appie Rammers, Leendert Busch, Ronald Splinter, Frank Beek en Tony Leroy.

Ze stonden in 1966 in het voorprogramma van het tweede optreden van The Rolling Stones in Nederland en daarmee braken ze landelijk door. In 1969 hield de band op met bestaan nadat er al eerder een aantal leden al uit de band was gestapt. De voormalige leden van The Outsiders hadden in de jaren 90 niet of nauwelijks contact met elkaar. Het project van Jerome Blanes om een officiële biografie te schrijven heeft ze weer bij elkaar gebracht. Gelijktijdig met de uitgave van de biografie besloten The Outsiders in 1997 een grote reünietournee te geven.
