Ne-Yo (echte naam Shaffer Chimere Smith) is een Amerikaanse R&B zanger en songwriter. Zijn doorbraak kwam in 2004, toen het door hem geschreven nummer Let me love you, gezongen door Mario, wereldwijd een grote hit werd. In 2006 kwam zijn debuutalbum In my own words uit.

Zijn albums volgen elkaar erg snel op: in 2007 kwam zijn tweede album Because of you en in 2008 Year of the gentleman.
Ook als songwriter is hij erg druk bezig, hij schreef hits voor onder meer Mario, Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Usher, Janet Jackson, Anastacia en Ciara.

In 2011 scoort hij, samen met Pitbull, Nayer en Afrojack zijn eerste nummer 1-hit met Give Me Everything. Het nummer zou zijn grootste hit worden. Turn Around, zijn samenwerking met Connor Maynard, is in 2012 zijn laatste en 13e Top 40-hit. In 2014 werkt hij opnieuw samen met Pitbull op Times Of Our Lives, dat in februari 2015 in de Top 40 komt. Ook verschijnt dan zijn zesde studioalbum, Non Fiction, waarvan de single Coming With You als voorloper verschijnt.

In 2019 is Ne-Yo te horen op Unlove You, een track op het zevende album van Armin van Buuren.
