Michael Bublé hielp als tiener zijn vader als visser. In zijn vrije tijd zong hij in nachtclubs (als Mickey Bubbles) en werd hij door zijn opa gesponsord met zanglessen. Die inspireerde hem ook met zijn enorme collectie jazzmuziek. Sinds 1996 is hij geregeld te zien in een talkshow op de Canadese televisie. Sindsdien bracht hij in eigen beheer drie albums uit, First Dance, Babalu en Dream.

Als Bublé zingt op een bruiloft komt hij in contact met David Foster die eerder al werk afleverde voor onder meer Andrea Bocelli, Whitney Houston, Céline Dion en Barbra Streisand. Hij twijfelde wel om hem een contract aan te bieden omdat zijn muziek in eerste instantie niet paste in het populaire genre. Hij bood de Canadees de kans om geld bij elkaar te brengen waarna hij zijn album zou produceren. Dat titelloze debuutalbum verschijnt uiteindelijk in februari 2003. Het bleek een direct succes en wereldwijd gingen er meer dan 3 miljoen exemplaren over de toonbank. De opvolger, It’s Time (2005), wist die prestatie nog eens te overtreffen met zo’n 10 miljoen stuks.

Call me Irrisponsible is het derde album van Bublé en van dat album komen ook zijn eerste twee Top 40-hits Everything en Lost. Haven’t Met You Yet, zijn derde hit, staat in 2009 in de Top 40 en evenaart precies het succes van de single Everything en wordt zijn tweede top 10-notering. Het album Crazy Love, waarop het nummer staat, wordt onderscheiden met een Grammy Award.

Na een succesvol kerstalbum (2011) brengt hij in 2013 het album To Be Loved uit met daarop zijn vierde Top 40-hit Haven’t Met You Yet. Daarna volgen de albums Nobody But Me (2016) en Love (2018). Van dat album wordt Love You Anymore uitgebracht als single.

In 2016 besluit Michael Bublé zich voor een langere periode terug te trekken als duidelijk wordt dat zijn oudste zoon, Noah, leverkanker heeft. “We kregen de diagnose te horen en dat was het. Mijn hele leven eindigde”, zo zei hij daar in 2018 over tegen James Corden.
