Mabel McVey werd geboren in Malaga en leefde een tijdje in Stockholm en is daarna verhuisd naar Londen. Haar ouders zijn, zonder twijfel, een belangrijke inspiratiebron voor haar muzikale stappen. Papa Cameron was schrijver voor bijvoorbeeld Massive Attack waar haar moeder, Neneh Cherry, in ons land met Buffalo Stance, Manchild en 7 Seconds drie top 3-hits wist te scoren. Haar halfbroer, Marlon Roudette, stond inmiddels ook 2 keer in de Top 40.



Zelf maakt Mabel als 19-jarige, in 2015, haar muzikale debuut met de single Know Me Better. In 2017 weet ze met Finding Keepers een Britse top 10-hit te pakken. Nadat ze met Harry Styles, als voorprogramma, mee tourt door Europa krijgt ze ook haar eigen tournee die haar in mei van 2018 naar de Amsterdamse Melkweg bracht. Ondertussen bouwt ze aan haar mixtape Ivy To Roses waarop Don’t Call Me Up in 2019 de meest recente toevoeging is. Don't Call Me Up staat tien weken in de top 3 maar weet de eerste plaats niet te bereiken. In juni is Mad Love haar volgende single waarna ze in september te horen is op God Is A Dancer, een track met Tiësto.



In februari 2020 verschijnt er met Boyfriend weer een eigen track van Mabel die flarden van Woman From The Ghetto (Marlena Shaw) en Remember Me (Blue Boy) laat horen. De Britse zangeres brengt halverwege juni 2021 haar single Let Them Know uit. Naar verwachting zal dit de eerste single zijn van haar aankomende tweede studioalbum. In oktober laat ze haar zangkunsten horen op de track I Wish wat een samenwerking is met dj en producer Joel Corry.
