Elisabeth Woolridge Grant brengt in 2011 haar debuut uit met het nummer Video Games. De clip wordt in een maand tijd meer dan één miljoen keer bekeken. In de Top 40 weet het nummer de elfde plaats te bereiken en is vooralsnog haar enige hit in de Top 40.
Het album Born To Die is een wereldwijd succes waarvan er wereldwijd meer dan vijf miljoen stuks worden verkocht. Blue Jeans en Summertime Sadness (weliswaar in een remix-versie) zijn afkomstig van het album en bereiken de Tipparade op.

Op 16 juni 2014 verschijnt het nieuwe album van Del Rey, Ultraviolence. West Coast verschijnt als nummer vooruitlopend op de release.


Eind augustus 2019 is Norman Fucking Rockwell het zesde studioalbum van Del Rey. Niet veel later wordt duidelijk dat ze met Ariana Grande en Miley Cyrus ook de titeltrack van de film Charlie's Angels heeft ingezongen.

Haar debuutsingle Video Games afkomstig van het album Born To Die bracht ze uit op YouTube uit en binnen een maand had ze 1 miljoen hits. Haar muziek valt onder de noemer Indie, Alternatief en Sad Core.

Het liedje gaat over een meisje dat troost vindt in de kleine dingen van het leven, zoals haar vriendje dat een videogame speelt. Inmiddels staat de teller bij YouTube op bijna 136 miljoen hits.

Lana heeft de videoclip zelf in elkaar gezet met diverse filmpjes. Het toeval wil dat ze hierbij ook een filmpje heeft gebruikt dat afkomstig is van Nederlandse jongeren, waardoor de videoclip een Nederlands tintje krijgt.
