Deze Britse indierockband dankt zijn naam aan een Zuid-Afrikaans voetbalteam Kaizer Chiefs, waarvan een voetbalspeler uitkwam in Leeds United, de stad waar de bandleden vandaan komen. Ze brachten in 2004, zonder platenmaatschappij, de single Oh My God uit. Dit zorgde ervoor dat ze een platencontract konden tekenen bij B-Unique. De tweede single I Predict A Riot zette deze band echt op de muzikale kaart. Er werd ervoor gekozen om een jaar later de single Oh My God weer uit te brengen. Hun debuutalbum Employment gooide ook hoge ogen en werd in hun thuisland al platina na drie weken. De opvolger Yours Truly, Angry Mob verscheen in februari 2007, waarvan de single Ruby een grote hit werd.

In juni 2011 brachten ze het album The Future Is Medieval uit. Dit album is met behulp van de fans tot stand gekomen. De fans konden zelf het album samenstellen uit 20 opgenomen nummers en ook de albumhoes konden zij zelf maken. Uiteindelijk bevat het album 12 tracks.

Het album Duck werd uitgebracht in 2019 en gevolgd door een tournee.

In november 2022 verscheen de single How 2 Dance.
