Jessie nam eerst een demo van "Bang Bang" op en besloot daarna om het nummer definitief op te nemen. Een van de schrijvers van het nummer, Max Martin, vertelde haar dat Ariana ook een versie wilde opnemen. Nicki heeft het nummer later gehoord en twijfelde geen moment.
Zoals Jessie zei "It was like a real females, coming together, empowering, supportive (vibe) and then Nicki jumping on it was like the icing on the cake".
Alle drie hebben ze op verschillende data een fragment op Instagram van het nummer laten horen, voordat het nummer uitkwam.
