Jason Mraz scoort in 2003 met The Remedy een eerste notering in de tipparade, maar pas in 2008 komt zijn grote doorbraak met I’m Yours. De single bereikt de vierde plaats in de Top 40 en is afkomstig van het album We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. Ook de opvolgers Lucky (samen met Colbie Caillat) en Make It Mine bereiken de top 10.
In 2010 krijgt Mraz een Grammy Award als beste artiest en wordt ook de single Lucky met een Grammy onderscheiden.

In 2012 verschijnt zijn vierde studioalbum, Love Is A Four Letter Word, waarvan de eerste single I Won’t Give Up de derde plaats bereikt.

Rough Water, samen met Travie McCoy, is in 2014 zijn zesde Top 40-hit. De single, eerder verkozen tot Alarmschijf, schrijft nog wel een record in de boeken. Het nummer is na twee weken al weer verdwenen uit de MediaMarkt Top 40 en is daarmee de minst succesvolle Alarmschijf die ooit in de Top 40 heeft gestaan.
In juli van dat jaar verschijnt het nieuwe album Yes!, waarop 14 nieuwe nummers staan. Hello, You Beautiful Thing verschijnt als eerste track van dat album.
