In 1972 bestond de BBC 50 jaar; deze Britse omroeporganisatie werd opgericht in 1922 door John Reith. De bijnaam in Groot-Brittannië voor de BBC is “Auntie”, een soort koosnaampje voor een belangrijk instituut aldaar. Ter gelegenheid van dit jubileum werd er als eerbetoon een single opgenomen door toen zeer bekende artiesten: Vicky Leandros, Demis Roussos, Alice Babs, Hildegard Knef, Enrico Macias en onze eigen Sandra en Andres; Hans van Hemert schreef de muziek. Ook werd er voor die tijd een dure videoclip opgenomen. Dit omdat het natuurlijk, behalve die ene keer, nooit zou lukken om alle artiesten bij elkaar te krijgen. Eigenlijk best een leuk liedje … met een leuk verhaal.
