Hannah Mae kreeg haar muzikale ontwikkeling vooral via haar vader die nummers van onder meer AC/DC en Jimmy Hendrix draaide. Het gaf Mae zelf een compleet andere muzieksmaak dan haar andere vriendinnen hoewel ze ook de nummers van K3 kende. Ze volgde gitaarles maar had eigenlijk al voldoende aan het kunnen spelen van akkoorden om ook te kunnen zingen. Ze schrijft in 2019 nummers met Daniël Lohues en Ilse DeLange en weet zich dat jaar op te werken tot zangeres voor wie de provinciegrenzen van Drenthe wat te klein waren worden. Mae zingt voor een reclamecampagne van supermarktketen Plus het nummer Back To You.

In 2021 trekt Hannah langs de Nederlandse poppodia met haar Little Things Tour. Halverwege november 2022 brengt ze samen met de Belgische zanger Metejoor de single Wat Wil Je Van Mij uit. Daarmee scoort ze in het vroege voorjaar van 2023 haar eerste top 3-hit. Terwijl Wat Wil Je Van Mij nog hoog in de Top 40 staat brengt ze toch in mei 2023 al haar volgende single Zonder uit.
