Dua Lipa werd geboren in Londen en ging op 11-jarige leeftijd terug naar Kosovo waar haar ouders vandaan komen. Na een paar jaar weet ze haar ouders te overtuigen om toch terug te gaan naar Londen omdat ze dolgraag succesvol wilde worden als zangeres. In 2015 verschijnt haar eerste single, New Love, dat wordt opgevolgd door Be The One.

Halverwege februari 2016 wordt Be The One Alarmschijf en later dat voorjaar bereikt ze de vijfde plaats in de Top 40. Ook de opvolger, Hotter Than Hell, wordt Alarmschijf en komt tot nummer 10. Ondertussen start haar eerste tournee door het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Europa en wordt Blow Your Mind (Mwah) in augustus haar volgende single. In november leent ze haar vocalen aan No Lie, een track van Sean Paul die door Radio 538 wordt uitgeroepen tot Alarmschijf.

Begin 2017 is Dua Lipa te horen op Scared To Be Lonely van Martin Garrix. Het wordt haar vierde top 10-hit en komt zelfs op nummer 2. Op Koningsdag treedt ze op tijdens 538Koningsdag in Breda. Van haar debuutalbum, dat op 2 juni verschijnt, worden Lost In Your Light en New Rules als single gekozen. Op het moment dat New Rules haar grootste Top 40-succes wordt kiest Radio 538 Homesick, waarop Chris Martin ook te horen is, als Alarmschijf.

In 2018 wordt IDGAF (I Don't Give A Fuck) haar volgende single waarmee ze niet veel later haar zevende top 10-hit op rij weet te scoren. In april levert ze met Calvin Harris het nummer One Kiss af. De track staat 16 weken op nummer 1 en pakt daarmee het record van langst genoteerde nummer 1-hit aller tijden. In september brengt Dua een nieuwe uitvoering van haar debuutalbum met daarop ook de track Electricity dat ze samen met Silk City maakt.
