In het voorjaar van 2010 verschijnt het debuutalbum van Dotan Harpenau. Op dat album staat ook Your Town, dat een jaar later een bescheiden eerste hit wordt in de Top 40 en de 29e plaats bereikt. Where We Belong en Tell A Lie bereiken dat jaar de Tipparade.

Dotan staat in 2012 onder meer in de voorprogramma’s van Gavin DeGraw en Sinead O’Connor en werkt ondertussen aan zijn tweede album, 7 Layers, dat eind januari 2014 verschijnt.

Fall en Home zijn beide afkomstig van dat album en worden door Radio 538 uitgeroepen tot Alarmschijf. In 2015 is Hungry zijn vierde Top 40-hit. In augustus wordt de titeltrack van Layers, Let The River In, zijn volgende single. In 2016 maakt hij met Shadow Wind de track die door de NOS wordt gebruikt in de montages rond de Olympische Spelen. Radio 538 bekroont het nummer als Alarmschijf.

Dotan schrijft een compleet album als opvolger van 7 Layers. Op het moment dat hij het wil opnemen realiseert hij zich dat het gevoel niet klopt en dat hij nummers heeft gemaakt die iedereen van hem verwacht en niet de nummers die hij wil afleveren. Hij besluit de nummers aan de kant te schuiven en maakt dan het nummer Bones dat in mei van 2017 wordt uitgebracht.

In 2018 raakt Dotan in opspraak omdat hij voor zijn promotie verhalen verzon en dat via nepprofielen verspreidde via sociale media. De zanger geeft toe dat hij daarmee een enorme fout heeft begaan en verontschuldigd zich. In 2019 keert hij terug met de nummers Numb en Letting Go.

Songinformatie

Shadow Wind is het officiële NOS-anthem voor de Olympische Spelen 2016. Het liedje is niet speciaal geschreven voor dit soort sportevenementen. Dotan heeft de track in december 2015 een paar keer live gespeeld en heeft het indertijd nooit officieel uitgebracht.

Olympic Park-presentator Henry Schut hoorde het nummer en wilde het graag gebruiken om onder de dagelijkse hoogtepunten te zetten uit Rio de Janeiro.

NOS Studio Olympic Park is een latenighttalkshow die gedurende de Olympische Spelen van 2016 iedere dag wordt uitgezonden en waarin presentator Henry Schut met sidekick en judokampioen Edith Bosch medaillewinnaars, verliezers, hun coaches én gasten van buiten de sportwereld ontvangen. Er wordt teruggekeken op de afgelopen uren en – ook weer vanwege het tijdsverschil – vooruitgeblikt op wat nog komen gaat.

NOS Studio Olympic Park is van donderdag 4 tot en met zondag 21 augustus 2016 rond de klok van 23:00 uur te zien op NPO 1.
