Een demo die Ciara Harris in 2004 maakt, Goodies, komt onder de aandacht van Lil’ Jon. Die voelde aan alles dat het een regelrechte hit kon worden. Het resulteerde dat najaar in haar debuutalbum, eveneens getiteld Goodies. Het album komt in de V.S. van niets op 3 in de albumlijst en wordt later drie keer platina. In november staat de titeltrack ook bij ons in de Top 40. De opvolger, 1 2 Step (met Missy Elliott) wordt met een 18e plek in ons land zelfs nog wat succesvoller.

Ciara: The Evolution is haar tweede album in 2006, maar hits weet dat album niet op te leveren. Wel staat ze in het voorprogramma van Rihanna, samen met Akon en Chris Brown. In 2008 wordt ze door Billboard onderscheiden als Woman Of The Year.

In 2009 doet ze samen met Jay-Z een uitgebreide tournee en staat ze in het voorprogramma van de Circus-tour van Britney Spears. Inmiddels scoort ze met Takin’ Back My Love (met Enrique Iglesias) haar eerste top 5-hit in ons land. In mei 2015 verschijnt haar zesde studioalbum, Jackie.

Met de Nederlandse dj R3hab maakt ze de track Get Up, dat begin 2016 nadrukkelijk onder de aandacht komt.
