Deze uit Ierland afkomstige boyband werd opgericht in 1993 en bestond uit Stephen Gately, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch en Ronan Keating. Hun debuutsingle Working My Way Back To You werd een grote hit in Ierland, maar met hun single Love Me For A Reason uit 1994 wisten ze de rest van Europa in te pakken.

Eind jaren negentig was het Ronan Keating die steeds meer solowerk uitbracht. Uiteindelijk zorgde dit ervoor dat de groep uit elkaar ging.

In 2007 treden ze samen op voor het televisieprogramma Children In Need van de BBC.

Op 10 oktober 2009 overleed Stephen Gately onverwachts in zijn slaap. Hij werd 33 jaar oud. In januari 2010 brachten de overgebleven leden een nieuw nummer uit als eerbetoon aan Stephen Gately, Gave It All Away. Het nummer werd geschreven door Mika.

In maart 2017 kondigde Keith Duffy aan dat Boyzone een contract had getekend bij Warner Music voor een nieuw album en een tournee. In 2018 viert de band zijn 25-jarig bestaan door een laatste, nieuw album uit te brengen en op tournee te gaan.
