De Amerikaan Aloe Blacc is al een jaar of vijf bezig als zijn eerste album, Shine Through, in 2006 het licht ziet. De track I Need A Dollar wordt een hit als het gebruikt wordt in de comedyserie How To Make It In America. Het nummer staat op zijn tweede album Good Things en wordt ook in ons land veel gedraaid.
Blacc wordt in één klap wereldberoemd als hij samenwerkt met Avicii. Hoewel Blacc geen officiële credit krijgt op de single wordt Wake Me Up gezien als een van de hoogstandjes van de zanger. Later brengt Blacc ook een akoestische uitvoering van het nummer uit, dat geen hit wordt in ons land.
In 2014 is The Man zijn eerste notering in de Media Markt Top 40. Twee jaar later leent hij zijn stem aan Candyman van Zedd, dat een bewerking is van het nummer dat Sammy Davis Jr. in 1971 opnam. In juli 2017 verschijnt de track King Is Born in de Tipparade en twee maanden later is hij te horen op Carry You Home, de single van Tiësto.
In 2019 is Blacc opnieuw te horen op een nummer 1-hit van Avicii, SOS. In juli levert hij ook zijn vocalen aan Never Be Alone, een track van David Guetta en Morten.
