De in Haarlem geboren Alain Clark brengt in 2004 zijn eerste album uit met daarop uitsluitend Nederlandstalige nummers. Heerlijk weet in de Top 40 de 22e plaats te bereiken. De opvolgers, Vrij en Ringtone, blijven steken in de Tipparade. Zijn werk levert hem in 2004 een Zilveren Harp op. Clark houdt zich in de periode daarna bezig als producer voor onder meer Boris en Ali B.

In 2007 verschijnt zijn tweede album, nu Engelstalig, Live It Out. Al met de eerste single, This Ain’t Gonna Work, is het direct raak. De single bereikt de derde plaats en de opvolger, Father & Friend, komt nog een plaats hoger. Vier tracks van het album worden een hit in de Top 40. In 2009 wint de zanger een Edison voor beste artiest.

Colorblind is het derde album van Clark, maar daarvan wordt alleen Love Is Everywhere een hit in de Top 40. Ook van het album Generation Love Revival komt slechts één hit met Let Some Air In.

In 2013 zien we Back In My World (nummer 11) en Lose Ourselves (nummer 33) al als voorlopers van een nieuw album. Anywhere Else blijft daarna steken in de Tipparade. Halverwege februari van 2014 verschijnt Walk With Me, waar naast de drie eerdere singles zeven nieuwe tracks terug te vinden zijn. Whatever en Sweet Taste zijn daarvan de nummers die verschijnen na de release van het album. In het najaar van 2017 moet zijn zesde studioalbum verschijnen waarvan Kiss You The Same in juni als voorloper verschijnt.

In maart 2020 maakt hij het nummer Deze Is Voor Jou waarmee hij alle zorgverleners tijdens de coronacrisis een hart onder de riem wil steken. Eén jaar later komt hij met het opzwepende nummer Yes.
