Amerikaanse komedierapper en tekstdichter, geboren als Joseph Foreman op 28 juli 1974 in Palmdale, Californië (VS).
Begint zijn rapcarrière in de achtste groep van de basisschool nadat hij zijn eigen liedjes op band heeft vastgelegd en te koop aanbiedt aan zijn klasgenoten. Start zijn performance in de kerk als slagwerker en stapt uiteindelijk over op gitaar.
Hij woont nog steeds in East Palmdale (Los Angeles) als in november 1999 zijn eerste album Sell Your Dope uitkomt. Omdat hij het in Los Angeles niet meer naar zijn zin heeft, verhuist Afroman naar Hattiesburg (Mississippi). Because I Got High wordt pas een hit als het nummer verschijnt op de soundtrack van de Kevin Smith-film Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back (2001).
