Britse rockband uit Sheffield, Yorkshire, Engeland, opgericht in december 1972 onder de naam Ace Flash and the Dynamos, snel afgekort tot Ace: Paul Carrack (zang), Phil Harris en Alan King (beiden gitaar), Terry Comer (basgitaar) en Steve Witherington (drums).



Nog voor de opnamen van hun eerste album Five-A-Side [Anchor ANCL-2001] haakt Witherington af. Hij wordt door Fran Byrne vervangen. Band ontbonden in juli 1977.



Carrack, Byrne en Comer gaan naar de band van Frankie Miller. Carrack speelt vervolgens in Roxy Music (1978-80), daarna Squeeze (1981), Carlene Carter eind (1981), Nick Lowe (1982) en Mike + The Machanics (1985).

De groep heeft geen Top 40 notering behaald. How long en I ain't gonna stand for it strandden in de Tipparade.

Paul Carrack nam "How long" opnieuw op en dit werd in Engeland opnieuw een hit in 1996. Het nummer bereikte de 32e plaats als hoogste notering.

Trivia

De band werd gevormd in eind 1972 en heette oorspronkelijk Ace Flash & The Dynamos; de naam werd al snel afgekort tot Ace.
