A Flock Of Seagulls, een Britse newwave-groep, ontstaat in 1979 rond de broers Mike en Ali Score met Frank Maudsley en Paul Reynolds. In 1981 verschijnt de single It’s Not Me Talking, dat later uitgroeit tot een newwave-klassieker.
I Ran is in 1982 de eerste single van het debuutalbum. Het nummer bereikt de top 10 van de Billboard Hot 100 en is de internationale doorbraak voor de groep. In Nederland blijft het nummer steken in de Tipparade. Als twee jaar later het tweede album Listen verschijnt scoort de groep in Nederland een hit met The More You Live The More You Love (hoogste positie: 17).
Als Paul Reynolds om gezondheidsredenen de groep moet verlaten en ook Frank Maudsley vertrekt blijft meer succes uit. De groep stopt in 1986. Mike Score gebruikt de naam van de groep, steeds met wisselende muzikanten, wel weer.
