"Go now" was in 1965 de 1e hit in de Top 40. De groep onderging in 1967 een wijziging in de samenstelling. Denny Laine en Clint Warwick werden in 1967 vervangen door John Lodge en Justin Hayward, waarmee ook de r&b van de groep plaatsmaakte voor klassieke invloeden. Days Of Future Passed leverde een gigantische hit op: "Nights in White Satin". De opvolger, "Tuesday Afternoon", werd in Nederland geen hit, maar wel in veel andere Europese landen. Nights In White Satin wordt in brede kring beschouwd als de meest geslaagde poging een stuk op te nemen waarin pop en klassiek gecombineerd zijn. Opvallend is dat "Nights in white satin" in Engeland niet verder kwam dan de 19e plaats als hoogste notering.

Wist je dat? The Moody Blues wordt gezien als een van de wegbereiders naar het genre progressieve rock. De band is nog steeds actief, al ligt de tijd van succesvolle singles en albums al geruime tijd terug. In 1978 stond de groep voor het laatst in de Top 40. In 1975 maakten Justin Hayward en John Lodge een muzikaal uitstapje tijdens een ’sabbitical leave’ van de groep. In die tijd neemt Justin Hayward samen met John Lodge het album "Blue Jays" op, gevolgd door de single "Blue Guitar" en een korte Europese tournee, waarbij "Blue Jays" gezien wordt als een surrogaat-Moody Blues. Ook (ex-)leden Ray Thomas en Mike Pinder hebben, naast John Lodge en Justin Hayward, soloplaten gemaakt.
